Immunotherapy

What is Allergy Immunotherapy?

Immunotherapy is a form of long-term treatment that decreases symptoms for many people with nasal and eye allergies due to pollen, dust mite, pet dander, and mold. It involves giving gradually increasing doses of the substance, or allergen, to which the person is allergic. These incremental increases of the allergen cause the immune system to become less sensitive to the substance, which reduces the allergy symptoms when the substance is encountered in the future.

East Texas Ear, Nose, & Throat offers two types of allergy immunotherapy – allergy shots and sublingual immunotherapy (SLIT).
